ABOUT THE WALK

The 2010 Florida Brain Cancer Walk will mark the inaugural event hosted by Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure in the state of Florida. This 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the John Prince Park in Palm Beach County.

The Florida Brain Cancer Walk is open to participants of all fitness levels and will provide two ways to complete the 5k; one walking course and one running course. The true spirit of the event encourages walkers and runners a like to revel in the community around them and celebrate their fundraising efforts together at this wonderfully spirited event.

Family/Friend Teams and Company Teams will come together with our corporate sponsor partners to enjoy a day of fun, food and music, while providing hope and support to all of our friends and family members affected by this horrible disease.

Based on initial enthusiasm and excited from the local Palm Beach County community, Walk attendance is expected to reach, and possibly exceed, 300 — 500 participants.

Supporting the Local Community
In the spirit of community support and in an effort to fund the most promising research possible, the proceeds from the event will be directed to Florida-based brain cancer research projects and collaborations at institutions such as:

  • The McKnight Brain Institute of University of Florida
  • The Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute
  • Scripps Florida, The Scripps Research Institute

Friends in the Community
The Florida Brain Cancer Walk is made possible thanks to the support of our dear friends at the Florida Brain Tumor Association (FBTA). Without their guidance and assistance we could have never made our dream of bringing an event like this to Florida a reality! For more information about FBTA visit: www.fbta.info.
