Help Me Raise Money for Brain Cancer Research!
Welcome to my fundraising page! I’ve committed to raise funds to benefit cutting-edge brain cancer research through ABC2 by rappelling down the side of a building—AGAIN! As many of you know, I do this for personal reasons (as well as the greater good), because of my big sister.
On October 27, I will rappel down the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. IT IS 200 FEET HIGH, people. Yes, I will be sure to have someone film it--because I'm betting most of you would pay to see me do this! I’m still trying to find the helmet-cam footage from last year that was 50 percent whimpering and 50 percent cursing.
While rappeling is not at all something I would typically do, there really isn't a way to say no to someone who has gone through four craniotomies, 30 rounds of radiation, and many, many months of chemotherapy since being diagnosed in January 2004. If my sister can face all of that with courage, strength, and grace, I had better be able to toss myself over the edge of a building. Am I right?
I am dedicated to fight this deadly disease. There are almost 700,000 people living with brain tumors and about 80,000 more will receive a primary brain tumor diagnosis this year. Despite the amount of brain tumors, and their devastating prognosis, there have only been four FDA approved drugs to treat brain tumors in the past 30 years. More research is desperately needed.
Thanks in advance for your support!
