Welcome to Salli Miller's Personal Page in honor & memory of my Dad, Bill Fouse
Welcome to my fundraising page! I’ve committed to raise funds to benefit cutting-edge brain cancer research through ABC2 by rappelling down the side of a building! On October 7, 2017 I will rappel down the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in DC. The most exciting part is, all the money raised for this event will be channeled to San Diego-based research projects.
I am dedicated to making a difference to fight this deadly disease. There are almost 700,000 people living with brain tumors and about 80,000 more will receive a primary brain tumor diagnosis this year. Our family lost my dad, who was 68 years old, was one of those who were diagnosed with brain cancer; glioblastoma multiforme, to be exact. Dad was the strongest man I ever knew. He was the one who could fix anything, whether he used his physcial strength or he used his heart and fixed through the power of love. Whether he was playing softball or bowling, volunteering in his community through Lions Clubs, Meals on Wheels, or the Honor Guard, or he was just lounging with Mom and their two dogs, he always had something going on! He even played softball 3 days before his diagnosis. My dad was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather (and would have been a wonderful great-grandfather).
Dad was diagnosed Memorial Day weekend 2015 and passed away on my birthday, July 26, 2015. Two months!!!! Just two months!!! Brain cancer robbed our family of our "ROCK". And while I can't bring him back, I want to fight in his memory for those who are diagnosed today and tomorrow, for their families who are affected just as much, and for those who do the research to help develop a cure for this deadly disease.
Despite the amount of brain tumors, and their devastating prognosis, there have only been four (4) FDA approved drugs to treat brain tumors in the past 30 years. More research is desperately needed. Please consider helping me fight this battle in my dad's memory.
Thanks in advance for your support!
