Welcome to My Personal Page
Welcome to my fundraising page! I’ve committed to raise funds to benefit cutting-edge brain cancer research through ABC2 by rappelling down the side of a building! On December 3, 2017 I will rappel down the Manchester Grand Hyatt, the largest building on the San Diego waterfront. The most exciting part is, all the money raised for this event will be channeled to San Diego-based research projects.
I've wanted to participate in this event for a couple years now not only because rappelling down the side of a large building is a challenge that I want to accomplish, but because brain cancer has affected a very huge part of my life. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2008. The toll it took on our family was indescribable. All of a sudden, the man's life that I looked up to and loved the most was threatened. After a 2 year battle of surgeries, chemo, radiation, and a tremendous amount of fight, my dad passed away. Fundraising for brain cancer holds a special place in my heart and means a lot to me because of the amazing man that our family ultimately lost due to a glioblastoma multiforme tumor. One of my biggest wishes in life is to give a big "F-U" to all brain cancers. I have such hope that we will see more people survive and thrive, and that we will ultimately see an end to this awful disease. So any kind of donation really does make a difference, because it will help researchers continue their pivotal work for those who are currently fighting brain cancer and those who may be diagnosed in the future.
There are almost 700,000 people living with brain tumors and about 80,000 more will receive a primary brain tumor diagnosis this year. Despite the amount of brain tumors, and their devastating prognosis, there have only been four (4) FDA approved drugs to treat brain tumors in the past 30 years. More research is desperately needed.
Thanks in advance for your support!
