2018 OTE DC

This year TeamBT raising funds in honor of Anya Zvorsky. At 3 years old she was diagnosed with a large malignant tumor that turned out to be Ependymoma, one of the rarest forms of brain cancer. Cancer, IV placements, long MRIs, drainage tubes, port accesses, chemo meds, wheelchairs and hospital stays became the norm.

Since January 2012, Anya's MRIs have been stable with no new growth until now. The most recent MRI in July 2018 showed a tumor growing next to her pervious one. Because of the location, her medical team and parents have decided on another surgery followed by 6 weeks of radiation.

Following her surgery on Ausust 1, Anya has been her amazing, calm and collected self - leaving all of us extremely rounded during this time. She has shown more strength and faced more than any kid should ever have to.

I am dedicated to fight this deadly disease. There are almost 700,000 people living with brain tumors and about 80,000 more will receive a primary brain tumor diagnosis this year. Despite the amount of brain tumors, and their devastating prognosis, there have only been four (4) FDA approved drugs to treat brain tumors in the past 30 years. More research is desperately needed.
